We absolutely loved working with Tekoa. She radiated kindness, wisdom, and a sense of peace that we came to rely on during her many weeks with us as a night doula. As first-time parents we had so many questions, and she proved to be an invaluable resource, sharing her deep expertise with so much thoughtfulness. She would share what she knew based on her research and experiences, while noting that there's not in every instance a single right way for every child, for every family. You determine what resonates with you, what feels right for you and your child, based on the information you've gathered from various science, health, and parenting experts and sources. If we'd heard something new from my mom's group, she'd share what she knew, then if needed do additional research, reading and reaching out to her network, then come back and share what she'd learned. Her holistic approach to caring for mamas and babies (and the rest of the fam) was so gentle and made our experience with our baby that much more wonderful. She made me a special tea every time she came over and made our baby a custom body oil (organic and so soothing, smelled amazing as well). My husband, when I first started talking about a night doula was skeptical. But once Tekoa started helping us, he became such a fan. We had such a wonderful experience with Tekoa, and I don't know what it would have been like without her, but I can bet it wouldn't have been anywhere near as positive and purposeful. She was definitely a godsend.

I reached out to Tekoa in late April 2020 while looking for a night doula that could help our family.  After speaking with her and a few others, she stood out to me as someone who is thoughtful, present, calm and kind.  She had good questions for me during our very first phone call and I felt that this was a partnership we were creating, not just a one-way service.  It is challenging to plan something like this during shelter-in-place orders due to Covid but I was able to have confidence in our choice to go with Tekoa over the phone and one preparatory meeting.  For me, it was important to find someone I was going to be comfortable with when they are in my home at 3am, when I'm groggy from sleep and the baby is crying.  Tekoa has an innate sense of calm and confidence that I think is absorbed by anyone near her and that's really a large part of what we needed at the time.  She was great with the baby and getting her fed (we were topping off with bottles after nursing at the time) and putting the baby back to bed, but I think those are fairly tactical things.  She is the type of presence you want in your home and she helped ease my anxiety about feeding this new baby that was so unlike my first child.

I highly recommend Tekoa.  I really appreciated her presence in our home and I know my husband and I looked forward to the nights where she came to our house.

Tekoa first started to work with us as a night doula when our son was just a few weeks. As first time parents, we were absolutely clueless about what to do and often confused. Added to that, after a stressful delivery and a bunch of post-partum health issues, we were also exhausted

Tekoa was a blessing. She knows just what to do with most baby issues, with special expertise in problems like gas. She helped with nursing, she would burp and put the baby to sleep everytime after I nursed him and she would change his diaper before.

She would discuss with me what I wanted to do and take that approach to caring for the baby. That early after having the baby, I was not even aware I had an opinion! I felt like I always had to ask what to do and go by whatever the "experts" told me. it was Tekoa who helped me get in touch with my inner intution and to trust my own unique wisdom and expertise as his mother.

Additionally, she would also support me and the whole family. She can make and indeed enjoys making - lovely nourishing healing food. She helps clean up and do laundry whenever she got a chance

The second time we worked with Tekoa was when I had a health emergency when my son was about 4 months. We had stopped having doula's for a while and I was nervous. He had not been alone without me for too long at all and he had actually stopped taking the bottle. But she managed - even giving him milk at night with a small syringe! She was instrumental in my making it through that time

Tekoas manner is gentle and calm. She is always positive. She is so calm that on a day of stress and exhaustion just being around her feels healing. She is supportive and non-judgemental

Finally, having worked with a lot of doula's what I found most special about her, personally, was that she is also a mom of young kids. So I felt reassured that whatever she was suggesting to me, she has recently tried with her own kids too!

I'm a mother of twins and Tekoa was a lifesaver! She Help us so much to take care of our babies and me. She is very professional, kind and knowledgeable. We were very happy to have her with us for the first 3 crucial months. We highly recommend her to any mom.

Tekoa came to help us when my baby was about a month. My early postpartum is always full of anxiety, so I needed a calming and nurturing person to help me navigate those early week and Tekoa came to fulfill that role. She worked with my family twice a week for several weeks. Her presence was such a big help, with overnight care for my son so I could get some rest. She keeps a binder with information on how the night went and she helped me with postpartum nutrition with was a huge help because you feel very depleted in those early weeks. She suggested chiropractic care for my son which was of a huge help and still is. Overall she was a very helpful, nurturing, and positive presence in my postpartum and I will recommend her in a heartbeat.

We loved having Tekoa with our family.  She was a lifesaver during our postpartum period.  In addition to being fantastic with our baby, she helped around the house, was great to talk to, and generally helped us keep our life together.  I'd be counting the minutes until she arrived to give me a much needed break.  She's also wonderful to talk about the parenting experience.  I can't recommend her enough!

My husband and I trusted Tekoa with our 8 week old baby girl after struggling with sleep and couldn’t have been happier with welcoming her to our family.  Tekoa has a warm and comforting presence that permeated the house, and helped our little one learn to sleep through the night in just four nights.  Tekoa also offered us valuable advice based on her experience that was founded in a gentle and loving approach towards infants, which is exactly what we needed at that moment.  I can’t recommend Tekoa enough and would be more than willing to speak directly to anyone considering bringing her to their family as a doula.

Tekoa was an amazing night doula for us! She helped us with our second baby, which was key given we were also wrangling a toddler. Our baby was particularly fussy, and cried A LOT. It was so great to have someone as dependable and experienced as Tekoa. I felt extremely comfortable leaving my baby with Tekoa, knowing she would be in good hands, which helped me get some much needed rest. Tekoa brought a wealth of knowledge about infants, not only from her experience as a doula but also with her own children. I would highly recommend Tekoa to any expecting parents, and I would absolutely hire her again. 

Working with Tekoa has been a pleasure. She responds quickly and is willing to schedule night work last minute if needed. She is timely and professional. She also has a calm, warm and grounded presense that always makes me and my baby feel at ease when she arrives at my home. I would definitely recommend her for doula work.

My Family adores Tekoa!  She was so helpful with my twins for a few months.  She also provided me with a lot of support.  When she arrived we would chat casually and she gave me useful tips for my mommy wellness.  Aside from feeding and caring for the twins at night she would fold laundry and do dishes etc.  She provided guidance without imposing her personal beliefs.  She was a wonderful asset for our family!

We found Tekoa through the doulamatch website when we were looking for a Sibling Doula to support our ~2.5 year old daughter while my wife gave birth to our son. 

Tekoa came over for an initial consultation and one other time before the birth. Our daughter warmed up very quickly to her, and we felt comfortable leaving our daughter with her for a few days.

As a person, Tekoa is very caring, patient, and understanding. She reduced our stress since we knew that she understood our situation, which was a difficult one as a result of Covid-19. She was very punctual and readily available as our schedule was evolving at the last minute.

We would definitely recommend Tekoa to others. Our daughter still asks when she's going to see Tekoa and her son again!

Tekoa was a wonderful doula. She has a quiet confidence and a very nurturing and calming presence. She is extremely knowledgable and has answers to every question you might have. She is flexible and available whenever you have questions or concerns. She is skilled at both emotional and physical support aspects of being a doula and also has knowledge of various herbs and oils and tinctures. Her competence and loving presence make you feel like you are in the best possible hands for the big event. 

Tekoa was very patient and kind with our newborn. I literally never heard him cry once all night and she washed all my pumping equipment so in the morning when I came down to pump, everything was ready to go. 

Tekoa was an immense help with our daughter as a post-partum doula and a joy to have in our household.  She started with us when our babe was a month old and continued care until five months of age, working once a week so I could have some time for appointments, exercise, and (crucially!) rest.  Tekoa was helpful and knowledgeable regarding infant health issues, feeding, and baby sleep; we would usually discuss any issues each visit and she gave great advice and recommendations.  Tekoa has a wonderful presence; she is calm, humorous, and loving and I always felt completely confident that she cared for my daughter with expertise and real affection.  We would absolutely recommend Tekoa for post-partum doula work and really miss having her around!
